We had a fantastic weekend at my little sister’s wedding (a post I can’t wait to write later this week!), and upon returning home I hosted a Father’s Day party for my extended family that remained in town. I decided to try my hand at a few special party ideas that I’ve recently read about, and all of the guests noticed and appreciated the extra effort! We decided on a Taco Bar for the menu (a great way to accommodate several vegetarians in the group!). Sticking with the theme, Margaritas were our signature drink, and we dressed them up with floating fresh limes and the popular drink dispenser. You might also notice the custom cups, which I had made for the occasion! They were a huge hit, and guests asked to take them home to remember the day.
You can see that despite being pretty exhausted from the wedding weekend, Mom and I were enjoying the evening. No margaritas for this super preggo Mama, but I had fun anyway! The Taco Bar was dressed up using tented food cards, and tables were adorned with placecards, since the party was for fifteen family members.
This month’s issue of BHG gave me the idea to package the silverware in these cute chevron bags. I thought they added just the right amount of zing to my everyday white dishes. I was also SO fortunate to be able to use some of the flower arrangements from the wedding to make my tables much more beautiful. The floral designer at the wedding was AMAZING!
We staged our house differently for this party, and I loved the way it flowed. Bar stools that are normally placed here provided additional seating in the living room, where everyone congregated during the party.
In addition to being tons of fun to plan, this party was a great way to celebrate SIX amazing fathers. I enjoyed putting it together for my husband, who loves a party! Stories of the great wedding along with funny stories from the past filled the air, and everyone went home happy and feeling special.
